This is the French Bakery I made when Ray Whitledge was Program Chairman of our miniatures club, Miniature Maniacs of Northern Virginia.  Ray designed the box for us (it consists of two rooms, the shop side and the kitchen side) and showed us how to create it step by step over almost a year.  It is by far the most ambitious project we have undertaken.  We learned so much when creating it--how to create Ray's floors from squares of marble paper,  hard wire a roombox, create walls wherever you want them, cut odd-angled moldings for floor and ceiling.  We also learned just by watching him work; what a master!

La Tarte Tatin

My bakery is located in Rouen, France, and is called " La Tarte Tatin." A "tarte tatin" is an apple tart with a yummy glaze on top;  Claude Monet used to have his driver take him to Rouen just to get some.

Pies and Cakes Made from Clay

After finishing the box, I purchased some cakes and pies at a miniatures show.  Those appear on the top shelf of the bakery case. The prices for each piece were so high, I decided to learn how to make my own out of Fimo. I created most of the tarts you see on the bottom three shelves of the bakery case, as well as all of the breads on the baker's rack on the shop side.

Dolls by Gina Bellous & England Things

The dolls on the shop side are by Gina Bellous.  I asked her to fashion a young French couple and I think she did a superb job.  The female doll even has jewelry on.

The baker doll is from England; I believe he came from England Things.
